Fibre internet for apartments in Prague 1: who has fibre and how to get it at home

Short answer: iNTERNET PRAHA JOSEFOV runs its own fibre network in Prague 1 - the backbone runs right through Josefov and we connect flats across Prague 1 (Old Town, New Town, Lesser Town, Hradčany, Josefov) and the rest of Prague. We offer symmetric speeds of 100-2000 Mbit/s with no data caps. Whether fibre reaches your building depends on the address - and if it does not yet, we will build the connection.
Why fibre in Prague 1 takes more work than elsewhere
Central Prague is a heritage reservation. The buildings are old, with thick walls, narrow risers and often decades-old wiring. That is why in many buildings the big operators only offer connections over copper lines or the mobile network. Fibre all the way into the flat is still the exception rather than the rule in Prague 1 - and this is exactly where a provider with its own network in the streets, able to bring its own fibre into the building, pays off.
How to find out whether your building has fibre
1. Check availability for your address. Enter the street and number in our availability check and you get the answer straight away.
2. Ask the owners' association or building manager. The committee knows which providers already have wiring in the building and whether there is a fibre distribution box in the basement or riser.
3. Ask your neighbours. If any flat in the building already has fibre, the connection to the building exists and connecting another flat is much faster.
What if the building has no fibre
We build our network ourselves and extend it based on demand - we do not resell someone else's infrastructure. If there is no connection at your address yet, we will carry out a technical inspection and propose how to bring the fibre into the building. For apartment buildings it pays to arrange the connection for the whole owners' association at once - see our article Internet for owners' associations and apartment buildings.
What to expect from fibre in your flat
Fibre internet is symmetric: upload is as fast as download, which you will notice on video calls, cloud backups or when working from home. The speed does not drop depending on how many neighbours are online, and there are no data caps. A static IP address is available on request. If the building is already on our network, we can often connect you within 24 hours. Plans for households are on the internet for households page.
